Federal Supply Groups (FSG) 61 Electric Wire and Power and Distribution Equipment

The NSN is a 13-digit serial number assigned by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to all items procured, stocked, and issued through the federal supply system. NSNs make standardization and organization of items easier, so they are used by all member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). There are two main parts to the NSN, the 4-digit Federal Supply Classification Group (FSCG) and the 9-digit National Item Identification Number. The FSCG indicates the item’s class while the NIIN indicates the country of origin and uniquely identifies the item. The FSCG also has two parts, the 2-digit Federal Supply Group (FSG) and the 2-digit Federal Supply Classification (FSC).

Federal Supply Group 61, Electric Wire, and Power and Distribution Equipment, encompasses all items and equipment used for and related to general electrical power distribution. FSG 61 includes motors, generators, fuel cell power units, solar electric power systems, transformers, converters, batteries, wires, and more.
